About This Blog

I’ve always loved movies and I’m very partial to science fiction. I don’t know if it was The Lathe of Heaven or Star Wars that stirred up the same feelings that inspired the Syfy channel, awards such as the Hugo or movies that I saw like the one I saw yesterday: Avatar.

I’d been mulling over the idea of a blog for several months now to do what RealVsReel does: bring scientific and factual review and, when appropriate, grant artistic license to science fiction movies. After seeing Avatar yesterday, made by one of the best filmmakers around, I couldn’t help but feel inspired to fire up this blog and start writing; I was so impressed that I couldn’t help but think that even myself, someone who loves the science of science fiction and the truth about stories based on true events, I can’t help but give it the highest honors even if there is no science to the “floating mountains” in the movie…though I must say that it seems possible that if the “unobtainium” mentioned in the movie is some sort of anti-gravity material/element then it certainly would explain many things…

While this blog is devoted to the science of science fiction, it also devoted to stories based on real events and people: fact versus fiction if you will. For example, if you watched the Mothman Prophecies, it’s good to know that the movie didn’t get many facts right since it was based on a true story. Though that movie may still be in the science fiction vein as it is about the paranormal, if you saw the movie Erin Brockovich, I’m sure you’d kinda like to know what she really looked like considering how important the real Erin’s looks were to the story. There is absolutely a place for that here on this blog.

About Me

I’ve got several blogs elsewhere and I do internet marketing consulting; I also am a writer and I have always wanted to make movies…I don’t care to hide that fact. I made a short documentary but I haven’t made anything that is feature length. I’ve written my own stuff including some fanfic, but I bring this blog to you because of my love for movies and for my love of the truth as well. I happen to think that the truth is far more interesting than fiction unless that fiction does good in the world by at least being truthful in its telling.
